Before you arrange the puja

The same puja can be observed differently from one family to another. Start with these details.

Which puja, and which tradition?: Share the occasion and any family or regional customs. Mention the language you prefer for explanations.
Where and when?: Mention your city, neighbourhood and possible date. If the muhurat is still undecided, say so at the start.
What will be included?: Clarify the pandit’s dakshina, travel, materials and havan arrangements separately. Confirm on WhatsApp which items we bring and which your family keeps ready.

Making space at home

Start with the ritual space and your family’s comfort, before the decorations.

Seating and the havan

Prepare a clean space, seating and a surface for the puja materials. If a havan is planned, discuss ventilation and the building’s fire-safety rules beforehand.

Your family’s participation

Discuss who will take the sankalp and any seating needs for children or elders. Ask your pandit about fasting or other preparation for your particular ritual.

If the date changes

Reconfirm availability, the muhurat and material arrangements. Ask about changes or cancellation before finalising the puja.
