Significance
Vastu Shastra regards a home as a space presided over by the Vastu Purush and the guardian deities of the directions. Where a layout departs from Vastu principles and cannot easily be rebuilt, families traditionally perform Vastu Dosh Nivaran — a Vastu Shanti puja honouring the Vastu Purush, the Navagrahas and the directional deities, concluded with havan — to pray for peace and balance in the space.
