Significance

Goddess Durga is worshipped as Shakti, the divine feminine energy that protects dharma; the Durga Saptashati tells of her victory over Mahishasura and other demons. Families perform Durga Puja at home especially during Chaitra and Sharad Navratri and on Durga Ashtami, with kalash sthapana, recitation of the Saptashati and a concluding havan.

Vidhi: the steps of the puja

The order of the ritual. This is a usual outline; agree the details with the pandit for your family's tradition.
